Maple Mustard Roasted Salmon

Recipe for maple mustard roasted salmon, the salmon is marinated with maple syrup, mustard, garlic powder, paprika, rosemary and olive oil and baked in the oven. This is the perfect dinner for when you want something quick and comforting, but also full of amazing flavors.

The combination of sweet maple syrup, mix of tangy mustard, smoked paprika, garlic and the fresh rosemary transfer this simple roasted glazed salmon into a dish that works great for an everyday dinner or a special date night meal.

Why I love this salmon with maple mustard glaze
- Big flavor can be added to the roasted salmon using pantry staples and easy to find ingredients
- Comforting but not heavy
- Works great as a main dish, on top of a salad for a lighter but satisfying meal, or in rice bowl
- Even better the next day
Ingredient substitutions and variations:

- Salmon: You can also make this recipe with steelhead trout, halibut, or cod (adjust cooking times for thinner fillets).
- Honey or date syrup works well instead of the maple syrup
- Yellow mustard for a milder flavor or spicy brown mustard for a stronger kick of flavor
- Substitute rosemary with thyme or sage, you can also use a pinch of dried herbs if fresh isn’t available
- Add red pepper flakes or a dash of cayenne for a spicy variation
- Use this recipe to create a roasted salmon veggie sheet-pan dinner: add green beans, Brussels sprouts, or asparagus, tossed with olive oil and salt.
- The maple mustard marinade is also great with chicken thighs.
I used a whole large salmon fillet for this recipe, but you could also use individual smaller salmon fillets. Just reduce the cooking time by 1-2 minutes. You can also prepare this maple mustard glazed salmon in the air fryer or cook it on an outdoor grill. If grilling it, I recommend using a grill mat or grill sheet to keep it from sticking to the grill. Another option is to place slices of lemon underneath the salmon when placing it on the grill, this prevents sticking and add a touch of lemon flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes. You can mix the glaze up to 3 days ahead and store it in the fridge. Apply just before roasting for the best texture.
How do I know when the salmon is done?
The salmon should flake easily with a fork and look opaque in the center. An internal temperature of 125F-130F (51-54 C) gives the most tender salmon.

Can I use frozen salmon?
Absolutely. Thaw completely in the refrigerator overnight and pat dry before adding the glaze.
Why did my glaze burn?
Maple syrup caramelizes quickly. If your oven runs hot, roast on the middle rack. Skip the broiling.
How to store the leftovers?
Store any leftover roasted salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
